But he didn’t start his journey with this end goal in mind. In fact, Noah began his journey as a stand-up comedian simply looking for ways to make the world.

Growing up, it was a crime for Trevor to be seen in public with his white father, Robert Noah. His mother, Patricia Nombuyiselo Noah, is Xhosa. As a black woman, she had to dress up as a maid to meet her husband.






At the time, interracial relationships were considered a crime. These situations are distressing, to say the least. To cope with the situation, young Trevor Noah turned to comedy. As someone who was constantly pushed and pulled between the black and white communities in South Africa, Noah realized that humor could create a bridge that brought together these disparate worlds he experienced.
